AI adoption in the legal industry is entering a new phase. The conversation has moved beyond what AI can do, to how legal professionals can use AI responsibly, confidently and effectively in real legal work.

The LexisNexis Asia AI Hackathon 2026 invites legal professionals across Asia to explore the practical power of Lexis+ with Protégé through a structured 6-week challenge. Participants will discover how AI can support everyday legal workflows, develop a practical use case, and showcase how legal teams can build trust in AI through hands-on adoption.

Whether your work involves legal research, drafting, matter analysis, knowledge management, client service or workflow efficiency, this hackathon is designed to help you explore how AI can streamline your work and unlock new ways of delivering legal value.

AI is becoming part of how legal professionals work, think, research, draft, analyse and deliver advice.

The LexisNexis Asia AI Hackathon is a practical, time-bound challenge where participants explore how trusted legal AI tools can be applied to real-world problems.

This hackathon gives you the opportunity to move from discussion to experience. Over 6 weeks, you will gain free access to the latest Lexis+ with Protégé to identify a real legal workflow, explore practical legal AI use cases, test how legal AI can fit into your daily workflow, and develop a clear use case supported by Lexis+ with Protégé.

Who can join?

 

Participants may register individually or as a team of up to 4 people. Team members may come from different organisations.

 

The hackathon is open to legal professionals and legal teams across Asia, including:

Law firm lawyers
Barristers
In-house lawyers
Legal and compliance teams
Students*

*Students must be joined as a team with a practising lawyer, in-house lawyer or barrister

Final Hackathon Deliverables

Build a practical legal AI use case from a real workflow.

During the 6-week hackathon, participants will explore Lexis+ with Protégé and develop a practical legal AI use case based on a real workflow, challenge or opportunity.

Your team will be asked to consider:

How legal AI can support or streamline a legal workflow.

How Protégé can be used meaningfully in that workflow.
3
What value the use case creates for lawyers, clients or legal teams.
4
How legal professionals can use AI with greater confidence and trust.
5
How the use case could be adopted or scaled in practice.

 

 

What To Prepare For Judging

 

Judging will focus on how effectively participants use Lexis+ with Protégé in their workflow, as well as the clarity, practicality, innovation and potential impact of the use case.

 

 

At the end of the hackathon, each team will submit:

 

15-minute online presentation

Present your legal AI use case through a 5-minute video presentation, followed by a 10-minute live Q&A with the judging panel to discuss your approach, implementation, and key learnings.

3-page written proposal

Explain the idea, workflow, value and impact in a concise written submission.

Winning or standout teams may be invited to take part in interview articles published through LexisNexis marketing channels, highlighting their ideas, experience and practical AI adoption journey.

Extended Access

The winning team will receive extended access to Lexis+ with Protégé, helping them continue exploring, testing and refining their legal AI use case beyond the hackathon.

Speaker opportunities, VIP lunch access and extended usage arrangements are subject to final event arrangements and regional availability.

Before registering

A quick note for particiants

  • Each team may include 1 to 4 participants.
  • Participants may come from different organisations.
  • Existing clients with Lexis+ with Protégé or Lexis+ AI access may use their current account to develop their use case, or use the trial access provided for the hackathon.
  • Students must join with a practising lawyer, in-house lawyer or barrister.
  • Participants should not include confidential client information unless properly authorised.
  • Each team must submit a 3-page proposal and online presentation by the deadline.
  • Registration places may be limited to support a high-quality participant experience.
  • Registration is subject to approval based on availability and eligibility. A confirmation email will be sent once your registration has been approved.
